NASA has announced that asteroid 2015 TB145 will fly closer to Earth than anything this size has since July 2006. The asteroid, estimated to be between 280 to 620 metres in diameter, was discovered just 10 days ago and is expected to draw closer to Earth on October 31. However, it will still be 1.3 lunar distances, or about 499,000 km from Earth. The asteroid has an extremely eccentric and high-inclination orbit, which could be the reason it was only just recently discovered. It should be observable to those with a good-quality amateur telescope.
